Financial aid programs are available at Hussian College to provide assistance to qualifying students for their education. Grants, loans, and part-time employment may be available in a variety of combinations to meet the difference between the amount students and their families can reasonably be expected to provide and the cost of attending the College. Most financial aid programs are paid on a payment period basis, as defined by the Department of Education. Assistance in applying for these programs are provided through the Financial Services Office and visiting https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa

Federal Financial Aid Programs

Federal Pell Program — For undergraduates with financial need who have not earned Bachelor's or professional degrees; in some cases, however, a student enrolled in a post baccalaureate teacher certification program might receive a Federal Pell Grant. A student can receive a Federal Pell Grant for no more than 12 semesters or the equivalent (roughly six years).

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) - For undergraduates with exceptional financial need; Federal Pell Grant recipients take priority; funds depend on availability at school.

Federal Work Study - For undergraduate and graduate students; jobs can be on campus or off campus; students are paid at least federal minimum wage; funds depend on availability at school.

Federal Direct Subsidized Loan — For undergraduate students; U.S. Department of Education pays interest while borrower is in school and during grace and deferment periods; student must be at least half-time and have financial need; and U.S. Department of Education may stop paying their interest if they exceed that limit.

Federal Direct PLUS Loans — For parents of dependent undergraduate students and for graduate or professional students; borrower is responsible for all interest; student must be enrolled at least half-time; financial need is not required;

Unsubsidized Direct Stafford Loan — This program is similar to the Federal Direct Stafford Loan program except students may have to pay interest on their loan while attending school. This loan is not need based, but the amount a student receives is influenced by their regular Stafford Loan eligibility.

Students will be required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid online to determine their eligibility for one or more of the above programs. International students are not eligible for need-based aid including federal and state government-based funding, subsidized loans and military programs, as well as Hussian College need-based grants.

State Financial Aid Programs

Hussian participates in a variety of state sponsored grant and scholarship programs. Please visit your state postsecondary website and/or come by the College Financial Services department to determine eligibility.

Students who have a physical or mental disability which is a handicap to employment may be eligible for sponsored training services through their state government agency. Students should consult the local office of the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation for more information.

Private or Alternative Loans - Some private lenders provide student loan resources outside of the federal loan programs. Rules and eligibility vary so contact the specific lender or come by the College Financial Services Office for additional information.

Hussian grant programs are designed to assist students who meet admissions requirements and wish to attend Hussian College Clarksville, but require additional financial assistance in order to be able to attend college. Grant programs listed below can be awarded concurrently unless otherwise noted.

General Requirements for each program are:

  • Be enrolled at Hussian College Clarksville in any approved program, and
  • Complete the application process for Title IV assistance, and
  • Present documentation of eligibility for specific grant programs (if applicable).

Institutional Grant*
The recipient must:

  • Be enrolled in four or eight quarter credits hours in a payment period
  • The effective date of grant is Spring 2019; Hussian College Clarksville will reevaluate each year before the start of its Spring term to determine continuation of the grant.

*NOTE: The Institutional Grant is only available to students attending Hussian College locations in Tennessee

American Working Spirit Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be an agency approved dislocated worker through the Workforce Investment Act.

Elevate Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be partial Pell eligible under the Federal Pell Grant Program based on the calculated Expected Family Contribution number.

Neighborly Grant
The recipient must:

  • Have attended a closed school and have successfully completed the enrollment process for any program as defined by the current catalog.

Here For You Grant
The recipient must:

  • Have attended a closed school and have successfully completed the enrollment process for any program as defined by the current catalog.

Onward Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be Pell ineligible under the Federal Pell Grant Program due to the calculated Expected Family Contribution number.

American Pride Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be on active military duty, or
  • Be a Wounded Warrior*.
  • Have been honorably discharged.

* A Wounded Warrior is any disabled veteran who has served since September 11, 2001, has less than 20 years of military service and has received either a Memorandum Rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater from their service Physical Evaluation Board or a VA service-connected disability rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater.

National Guard/Reservist Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be an active duty national guard member, or
  • Be a reservist.

Veteran Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be a honorably discharged veteran and /or Wounded Warrior*, or
  • Be a spouse/widow of a honorably discharged veteran and/or Wounded Warrior*, or
  • Be a dependent child, age 25 or under, of an honorably discharged veteran and/or Wounded Warrior*.

*A Wounded Warrior is any disabled veteran who has served since September 11, 2001, has less than 20 years of military service and has received either a Memorandum Rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater from their service Physical Evaluation Board or a VA service-connected disability rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater

Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG)
The recipient must:

  • Be enrolled at the College in any approved degree program
  • Be eligible for Tuition Assistance and provide approval to the College prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement
  • Complete the Federal Assistance of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Title IV assistance
  • Remain eligible with the Department of Defense and provide the College a copy of the Tuition Assistance Statement of Understanding (TA SOU) each term/session

All academic scholarships are reserved for students who exhibit above average academic performance. The applicant must meet all other admissions requirements for attending the College in addition to the specific scholarship requirements. Scholarships will be awarded to the first applicants each term/session who meet all eligibility requirements.

General Requirements for each program are:

  • Be enrolled at Hussian College Clarksville in any approved program, and
  • Complete the application process for Title IV assistance, and
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress as stated for Title IV eligibility and as defined by Hussian and
  • First-time, full-time students (12 credit hours or more) enrolled in a degree programs (unless otherwise specified), and
  • The student must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0 each term/session in order to continue to receive the scholarship the following term/session. If a student falls below a 3.0 grade point average for a given term, their scholarship will be suspended until a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is attained.
  • A student that officially or unofficially withdraws from school prior to completion of the term will forfeit any institutional aid awarded for that term.

Alumni Scholarship - Application and supporting documentation for the Alumni Scholarship must be filed with the Director of Admissions upon enrollment.
The recipient must:

  • Be a graduate of Hussian College Clarksville in either a diploma or associate level program with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher;
  • Meet admissions requirements and be admitted as a full-time degree-seeking student;
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Director's Scholarship
The recipient must:

  • Be a high school student entering the College immediately (within one academic year) following high school graduation, and
  • Have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.25 to a 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale), or
  • Have an ACT score of 23 or higher, and
  • Receive a written recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor and at least one (1) teacher on school letterhead.

Presidential Scholarship
The recipient must:

  • Be a high school student entering the College immediately (within one academic year) following high school graduation, and
  • Have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale), or have an ACT score of 23 or higher, or
  • Be in the top 10 percent of the high school graduating class, and
  • Receive a written recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor and at least one (1) teacher on school letterhead.

Promise Scholarship - This scholarship is available to any Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania resident who enrolls in the online diploma Medical Assisting Administrative program. The maximum award is $6,148 per student.

USA Wrestling Scholarship - Two recipients will be chosen by USA Wrestling. The total amount of each individual scholarship will be $75,000 toward any online degree offered by Hussian College.

Private Scholarships and Grants - Many foundations, corporations, churches, and service organizations provide funds for student financial aid. Students generally apply directly to the potential donor. The College will be happy to work with any organization. Please visit your Financial Services Department for more details.

State Student Aid (CA residence only):

CalGrant - The Cal Grant is a California-specific financial aid allocation that does not need to be paid back. Cal Grant applicants must apply using the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application by the deadline and meet all eligibility, financial, and minimum GPA requirements of either program.

CHAFFEE - The California Chafee Grant for Foster Youth (Chafee Grant) awards up to $5,000 a year to eligible foster youth. The Chafee Grant may be used at any eligible California college or university, or career or technical school.

International students are not eligible for need-based aid including federal and state government-based funding, subsidized loans and military programs, as well as Hussian College need-based grants.

Hussian College is committed to supporting qualified students to fulfill their educational goals. The timing of scholarship disbursements for each term is at the discretion of the college. A student that officially or unofficially withdraws from school prior to completion of the semester will forfeit any institutional aid awarded for that semester.

HUSSIAN COLLEGE NEXT GENERATION SCHOLARSHIP - Open to eligible bachelor's degree program candidates, this holistic scholarship is designed to provide support to exceptional, emerging entrepreneurs, dancers, actors, filmmakers, and artists. Recipients' portfolios are judged on the thoughtfulness, technical execution, risk, innovation, entrepreneurial mindset, clarity of point of view and authenticity of their creative samples as well as their overall academic achievement, leadership, and community service.

THE GENIUS AWARD SCHOLARSHIP - This award is a full-tuition scholarship for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Art. This scholarship is awarded to four (4) incoming freshman students each year; one student from each program (Film + Digital Content, Commercial Dance, Contemporary Musical Theatre + Film, and Acting). MERIT SCHOLARSHIP - Open to eligible students who demonstrate superior levels of academic achievement in high school.

NEED-BASED INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIP - Open to eligible applicants who demonstrate financial need with an EFC (Expected Family Contribution) of 9999 or less on the FAFSA. This award will be verified annually.

PRESIDENT'S ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP - Open to eligible incoming freshman applicants accepted into a BFA program for the Fall who display excellence in their craft through visual examples submitted as part of their application and a written (500 - 750 words) statement that addresses the following:

“Describe the most influential experience you have ever had with a piece of art (film, theater, comic book, music - your call!), and how that experience led you to that “Aha!” moment where you knew with certainty that you must pursue a career in the visual or performing arts.”

JOE TREMAINE DANCE SCHOLARSHIP - Open to eligible incoming Freshmen Commercial Dance BFA students only. This competitive $25,000 scholarship is selected by Joe Tremaine, one of the most influential dance personalities in the United States. Students may only apply once. Joe Tremaine is an internationally known dance educator, choreographer, and performer. He works across many disciplines, including film, television, videos, commercials, and theatre. Tremaine is the founder and president of Tremaine Dance Conventions and Competitions. He serves on the boards of numerous dance organizations and is deeply involved in philanthropic work.

ALL AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL FILM FESTIVAL SCHOLARSHIP - Awarded to one award-winning filmmaker at the All American High School Film Festival.

YOUNG WOMEN IN FILM SCHOLARSHIP - Open to eligible female applicants accepted into the BFA in Film + Digital Content program for Fall 2022 who display excellence in their filmmaking through visual examples submitted as part of their application and a written (500 - 750 words) or filmed (no more than 5 minutes) statement that addresses the following:

DANCE NATIONALS SCHOLARSHIPS - One $48,000 minimum Next Generation Scholarship will be awarded at each of the following Dance Competition Nationals to a conditionally accepted dancer who demonstrates extraordinary talent and potential in the field of commercial dance through both their technique and performance quality.

2022 HOLLYWOOD SUMMER TOUR DANCE SCHOLARSHIP - This scholarship will be awarded to a conditionally accepted dancer who demonstrates extraordinary talent and potential in the field of commercial dance through both their technique and performance quality.

FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP - The Alumni Legacy Scholarship provides up to a $100 award per semester in addition to any other scholarship awards.

The Genius Award Scholarship - This award is a full-tuition scholarship for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Art. This scholarship is awarded to one (1) incoming freshman student each year who demonstrates exceptional creativity in high school, enters with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 from high school, and fulfills all Genius Award requirements. School Spirit Scholarship - Open to eligible full-time bachelor's degree seeking students who demonstrate superior levels of academic achievement in high school or previous college enrollment with unweighted GPA of a 3.3 to 3.59.

Visionary Scholarship - Open to eligible full-time bachelor's degree seeking students who demonstrate superior levels of academic achievement in high school or previous college enrollment with unweighted GPA of a 3.6 to 3.89.

Excellence Scholarship - Open to eligible full-time time bachelor's degree seeking students who demonstrate superior levels of academic achievement in high school or previous college enrollment with unweighted GPA of 3.9 and above.

Hussian Genius Scholarship

Hussian Genius Scholarship is applicable only to the Art program. Open to eligible 1st year full-time new freshman students pursuing their bachelor's degree and who demonstrate exceptional creativity in high school and enter with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 from high school.

Hussian Transfer Scholarship

Hussian merit-based scholarships are applicable only to the Art program. Open to all incoming transfer students admitted to Hussian for fall or spring enrollment.

  • Present documentation of eligibility for specific grant programs (if applicable).

Institutional Grant*
The recipient must:

  • Be enrolled in four or eight quarter credits hours in a payment period
  • The effective date of grant is Spring 2019; Hussian College Clarksville will reevaluate each year before the start of its Spring term to determine continuation of the grant.

*NOTE: The Institutional Grant is only available to students attending Hussian College locations in Tennessee

American Working Spirit Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be an agency approved dislocated worker through the Workforce Investment Act.

Elevate Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be partial Pell eligible under the Federal Pell Grant Program based on the calculated Expected Family Contribution number.

Neighborly Grant
The recipient must:

  • Have attended a closed school and have successfully completed the enrollment process for any program as defined by the current catalog.

Here For You Grant
The recipient must:

  • Have attended a closed school and have successfully completed the enrollment process for any program as defined by the current catalog.

Onward Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be Pell ineligible under the Federal Pell Grant Program due to the calculated Expected Family Contribution number.

American Pride Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be on active military duty, or
  • Be a Wounded Warrior*.
  • Have been honorably discharged.

* A Wounded Warrior is any disabled veteran who has served since September 11, 2001, has less than 20 years of military service and has received either a Memorandum Rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater from their service Physical Evaluation Board or a VA service-connected disability rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater.

National Guard/Reservist Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be an active duty national guard member, or
  • Be a reservist.

Veteran Grant
The recipient must:

  • Be a honorably discharged veteran and /or Wounded Warrior*, or
  • Be a spouse/widow of a honorably discharged veteran and/or Wounded Warrior*, or
  • Be a dependent child, age 25 or under, of an honorably discharged veteran and/or Wounded Warrior*.

*A Wounded Warrior is any disabled veteran who has served since September 11, 2001, has less than 20 years of military service and has received either a Memorandum Rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater from their service Physical Evaluation Board or a VA service-connected disability rating of thirty percent (30%) or greater

Tuition Assistance Grant (TAG)
The recipient must:

  • Be enrolled at the College in any approved degree program
  • Be eligible for Tuition Assistance and provide approval to the College prior to signing an Enrollment Agreement
  • Complete the Federal Assistance of Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for Title IV assistance
  • Remain eligible with the Department of Defense and provide the College a copy of the Tuition Assistance Statement of Understanding (TA SOU) each term/session

All academic scholarships are reserved for students who exhibit above average academic performance. The applicant must meet all other admissions requirements for attending the College in addition to the specific scholarship requirements. Scholarships will be awarded to the first applicants each term/session who meet all eligibility requirements.

General Requirements for each program are:

  • Be enrolled at Hussian College Clarksville in any approved program, and
  • Complete the application process for Title IV assistance, and
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress as stated for Title IV eligibility and as defined by Hussian and
  • First-time, full-time students (12 credit hours or more) enrolled in a degree programs (unless otherwise specified), and
  • The student must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.0 each term/session in order to continue to receive the scholarship the following term/session. If a student falls below a 3.0 grade point average for a given term, their scholarship will be suspended until a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is attained.
  • A student that officially or unofficially withdraws from school prior to completion of the term will forfeit any institutional aid awarded for that term.

Alumni Scholarship - Application and supporting documentation for the Alumni Scholarship must be filed with the Director of Admissions upon enrollment.
The recipient must:

  • Be a graduate of Hussian College Clarksville in either a diploma or associate level program with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher;
  • Meet admissions requirements and be admitted as a full-time degree-seeking student;
  • Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

Director's Scholarship
The recipient must:

  • Be a high school student entering the College immediately (within one academic year) following high school graduation, and
  • Have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.25 to a 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale), or
  • Have an ACT score of 23 or higher, and
  • Receive a written recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor and at least one (1) teacher on school letterhead.

Presidential Scholarship
The recipient must:

  • Be a high school student entering the College immediately (within one academic year) following high school graduation, and
  • Have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale), or have an ACT score of 23 or higher, or
  • Be in the top 10 percent of the high school graduating class, and
  • Receive a written recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor and at least one (1) teacher on school letterhead.

Promise Scholarship - This scholarship is available to any Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania resident who enrolls in the online diploma Medical Assisting Administrative program. The maximum award is $6,148 per student.

USA Wrestling Scholarship - Two recipients will be chosen by USA Wrestling. The total amount of each individual scholarship will be $75,000 toward any online degree offered by Hussian College.

Private Scholarships and Grants - Many foundations, corporations, churches, and service organizations provide funds for student financial aid. Students generally apply directly to the potential donor. The College will be happy to work with any organization. Please visit your Financial Services Department for more details.
