In 2017, Dr. Jeremiah Staropoli Ed.D became the new President of Hussian College. Dr. Jeremiah well versed in the history of the college and John Hussian introduced the Genius Award.
This award is a full-tuition scholarship for the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Art, with concentrations in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, and UI/UX. It is designed to support, celebrate, and promote students who have exceptional creative or unique ability. Students need not re-apply for the award each year, instead, the continuation of the scholarship is based on satisfactory academic progress and continued matriculation. The recipient is expected to maintain personal performance consistent with the intent of the award. This award is exclusive to the Philadelphia Campus and is the first of its kind.
Inspired by John Hussian’s humble beginnings. Mr. Hussian was a survivor the Armenian Genocide of 1915, He emigrated to the United States as a refugee and became a lecturer and respected member of Philadelphia’s art community.
The Genius Award represents the belief that creativity takes many forms and facets. The modern digital canvas is where we are challenging creatives to be; to stop thinking of the fine art, digital rendering and media, and even coding as completely separate. They are NOT. These are tools in a creatives tool belt, the same as a brush or a pencil, and employers are searching for these dynamic creatives so become one.
